Just thought those of you who check back regularly would like to know whats going on...

Jan 28, 2012

2011 was a  busy year... havent updated my website in forever, sorry!

Have 3 babies coming this year...an Acoolest, an Execute, and a Kid Coolsified, didnt get the two I bred to Mr Elusive settled and tried to breed one to my colt and didnt get her settled either.  Was smilin at my 2010 post, came close to breeding some of my halter mares to pleasure as everyone is all excited about the performance halter...but then I went to the World Show and came back thinking if I wanted to breed pleasure I would buy a pleasure mare :)!

Showed my new rider - a 3 year old gelding by Too Sleepy To Zip, bred a bunch of mares...lots of running back and forth to Ellensburg (thanks to Dr Paula Thompson and Laura Forbes where the horses got to stay for their breeding work).

Am doing the Washington State Quarter Horse Assn. website too...whew.....

I am so excited about 2012, get to show Kobe in the Nov. am class this year...stepping out of the Walk Trot!  Really need to cut back on horses, have a bunch of shows to go to and havent decided which yearling I am gonna take with me, I love both my yearling fillies and the colt out of the Skipper W mare would make a fun gelding to show.  Am really having a hard time getting them handled enough.

In Nov when I started bringing mares in under lights I had one in heat so I taught the Kids Classic Style colt how to breed the mount, with the av inside, yes!  I thought about keeping him to breed my mares, except for the two Mr E breedings that I didnt get the mares in foal too but geesh, he is so nice and I just don't have time.  I am thinkin 2 mares might be enough, only I really like all my mares so its hard to decide who to sell.

Our business (Superior Building Mfg. Inc.) has been really busy and is keeping me hoppin, in this market that is such a blessing!

Oct 8, 2010

This was the first year in about 30 that I didnt have any babies!  I made up for it by showing my Rider - Trace Of Inclination in Nov Am Western Pleasure and then partway through I started on Nov Am Showmanship, and stepped into the Select classes too, what fun!!  What a lot of work!  Also showed my Kids Classic Style colt 'Casper' in yearling colts and ammy colts, not many stallions out there and no ammys :( so I couldnt get qualified for select).  I love my colt and will keep him as a stud prospect if he doesnt sell...  Am cutting down on the halter end as the riding thing is keeping me pretty busy.  I have decided to cut back to four mares, was in a stir cause I couldnt decide who to sell (I love my mares!), then I had a brain storm...will breed the two biggest mares halter in 2011, and the two who would cross nice pleasure will go to Joe Smith's pleasure stallion (Performance Halter Prospects!!) and the other two will go :(!  That means Skippy (Ima Cool Skip daughter) and Marsha (Skipper W bred) will be sold, they are both bred to You Bet Im Kidden for 2011.  Am going to switch out my Rider too... am so looking forward to next show season!!!  We just got done with the Annual Pig Roast, what fun!!! And have a nice guy doing all that finish work on the house that didnt get done before we moved in, wow things are looking beautiful!!!

Oct. 13 2009

Well whew, its October!  Went to the Beyer Select with my yearling filly Gotta Hot Coed (Love), we ended up 12th, it was disappointing as she didn't eat or drink for two days before I showed, Thank Goodness she didn't die on me!!!  So it was nice to be in there but I had hoped to be in the top 10...oh well...another horse show!  She is for sale at Jimmie Hardin's in Pilot Point, sad but I can only get one shown at a time and I am looking forward to showing my Bucky colt next year!

Sadly breeding went worse then before this year, can't believe that is possible, but I have 0 of 6 in foal - two were in foal at 30 days, but arent now.  The gals in Texas thought it was the west nile shots (I had resisted giving those till a year ago when a horse 1/4 mile away got west nile).  Lost a Kids Classic Style breeding when they sold him, don't know if I still have the Yella Fella breeding as we are on year 4 and they don't have to honor it, the mare died that I had been breeding to him UGH! - anyhow, thats enough of a hit in the pocket book for me to wonder why I sold my stud, and since I don't want to go backwards I have to decide whether to keep on doing this or not, sigh.  I love the babies and wasnt ready to quit yet!!!

The other BIG NEWS is that I bought a rider!  He is a 9 year old gelding by Sudden Inclination called Trace of Inclination (Spike), was stiff as an old board at first but have had some lessons on him and am lovin it!!!  Hope to get to the shows with him next year too!

July 8, 2008

Wow, how did it get to be July already?

The battle with shipped semen continues...I bred 6 and have one in foal - yeah Skippy!  Fanny was and isn't.  Its enough to break your heart.  Since I bred to different stallions, and had some at home and some away at Lewiston Vet, there is no simple explanation!  The saga will continue next year, have no idea if things don't get easier what I will do.  I had dreamed and schemed for years to breed to the big boys, and bred 7 last year and had 1 baby, and bred 6 this year and have 1 in foal.  The numbers will have to change for me to continue.  I am not ready to quit breeding!  I had a late start this year and the weather was really strange, so hopefully next year...

I sold TC (HT Prominence) in June, he was such a great boy to handle I was hesitant.  Especially with the shipping of semen going like it did.  Also sold two of the yearling colts, sadly one was the one I wanted to show, isn't that the way it always goes?

Tina (yearling filly) and Love (weanling filly) are in the barn, along with the other two yearling colts, I have been putting all the yearlings on the hot walker, way fun!  Hopefully can get these other two colts moved, I would love to bring the two year old gelding in the barn and start playing with him (he has 60 days on him so it would be very fun).  As well as scrubbing the goat hair off Love - she is finally letting go of it, it took a week of over 100 degrees to convince her!  Yes, I need to take new picts now!

I sent both the 3 year old geldings (they each have 60 days riding) over to a friend of mine in Ferndale WA, to see if she can get some people out to see them, there are great things about Moses Lake but there just isn't a huge population and we are such a drive from anywhere!  Such nice geldings need their own person to play with em!

Now if only I can get away to a show!!!!

May 27, 2008

Yes we are in the new house, it is beautiful and more wonderful then I could have imagined.  We thought we would never get to build so it is a dream come true, but I find myself at Home Depot thinking 'I am so glad I don't have to pick out that anymore!'  Now we are into landscaping - FUN!

I was soooo looking forward to 2008, I thought I had two babies by Kids Classic Style, one Mr Yella Fella, two by Gotta Hot Reflection, and one by You Bet Im Kidden on the way...in Dec I started getting worried as everyone was looking really big - big and fat!  Turns out I had only one (1) baby on the way (good girl Fanny!).  I was horrified,  the first year I bit the bullet and paid those big fees...what if my hubby is right and it IS all a waste!!!!  Have put my stallion up for sale with this great plan of shipping semen from the big boys...may have to rethink that grand plan.

Then in Jan. I slipped on the ice unloading groceries at my front door and broke my leg (ankle?) - the small leg bone spiral fractured from the bottom up...talk about messing up horsey plans and horse show plans...actually any plans at all.  After months of sitting around with one leg up...I am just now starting to get around without such a big limp.  This week I finally get to pick something to bring into the barn so I can maybe get to a show...

I have a great new vet, and am not having much better luck in breeding this year...am reshipping and thus far have 1 back in foal (yup, good girl Fanny again!).  Between the weather - snow in April!, and odd heat cycles, and some (randomly) not so great semen, I am hoping everything is sorted out and preg. checking at the end of the week will bring me really good news.  Cross your hooves for me!!!!

I did send the 3 year old geldings off to get started and when I broke my leg left them both there for 60 days, hopefully this will make them easier to sell...in this horse market anything that helps is good.  Have knocked the price down on the yearling colts - a shame as they are the nicest I have raised and are going to go for the least...it will be interesting seeing what will happen with the market...may have to start growing our own hay!

I have been remiss - I LOVE poring through bloodlines and so I have added the pedigrees to the horses for sale!                                                            I hope you enjoy looking...
